Your World [THOUGHT]

It’s funny how what we consume can shape us, or become part of our world, culture and everyday lives. So it bugs me when “today’s music” is poorly mastered/produced, lyrics are rude, obnoxious or take away any real weight music could have. It’s cool to have music that’s commercial and simply for listening pleasure but compromise on overall quality for monetary gain or instant fame? Defeats the purpose of even attempting to claim it as an art form or anything you’ve put thought into. I love the world of books, movies, theatre and music. Rory Gilmore said it best:

“…I live in two worlds. One is a world of books. I’ve been a resident of Faulkner’s Yoknapatawpha County, hunted the white whale aboard the Pequod, fought alongside Napoleon, sailed a raft with Huck and Jim, committed absurdities with Ignatius J. Reilly, rode a sad train with Anna Karenina, and strolled down Swann’s Way. It’s a rewarding world, but my second one is by far superior. My second one is populated with characters slightly less eccentric but supremely real, made of flesh and bone, full of love, who are my ultimate inspiration for everything…”

– Rory Gilmore’s Graduation Speech

You can use stories through any medium to live vicariously, cathartically or simply appreciatively. People respond to different things based on their tastes and preferences or what’s happening in their lives at a particular point in time. But either way they connect to it and that is what makes it so special.
